With the firm belief that fashion and design will
grow to become the core of our culture, and with
an extraordinary gift in the area of aesthetic sensibility,
Kim Young-Chull has launched the fashion magazines
<Marie Claire> and <Harper's BAZAAR>
in Korea. He's also revolutionized the men's magazine
industry by launching <Esquire>, the first
fashion magazine for men in Korea. In addition,
with a vision of highlighting the beauty in various
aspects of our daily lives, he began publishing
an interior design magazine, <Maison>. And
just last year, he took over a comprehensive docu-magazine,
<GEO> in the hopes to bring a new outlook
on the world to the readers. With such groundbreaking
contributions to the magazine industry in Korea,
he became to be known as the idea man in the industry.
His achievements have been recognized by the Ministry
of Culture and Tourism in 1999, which awarded him
for his contribution to the development of media
culture in Korea through magazines. In 2002, he
also received a Journalism Award from the Korea
Magazine Association for his excellence in management.
Kim, Young-Chul - yearning to share beautiful
and life-enriching stories with many through the
medium of books and magazines - is the author
of an autobiography, <Living without Borders:
Love and Business in a Global World> which
became a bestseller in 1990 and a number of essays
including <Small things have bigger meanings>,
<Et Cetera> and <Love, coffee and long
legs are not to last forever>.
